"Timebomb" is a song recorded by P!nk for the deluxe edition of her sixth studio album, The Truth About Love. It was written by P!nk and Greg Kurstin, and produced by the latter. It served as the sixth bonus track from the album and the nineteenth track overall. It was the second bonus track, however, on the iTunes deluxe edition of the album.
Background[]
"Timebomb" is one of two songs from the album to feature P!nk's daughter Willow playing an instrument:
“ | [Willow] plays bells on 'How Come You're Not Here, and she plays bass on a song called 'Timebomb.' She went up to the bass guitar on 'Timebomb' and started plucking away. She's actually pretty good! She's better on bass than I am! She plays piano, she bangs shit, she's either going to be violent or a percussionist... or a violent percussionist. [1] | ” |
"Timebomb" received an overwhelmingly positive response from P!nk's fans upon its release with the rest of the album and was considered a fan favorite from the album, with many even hoping it would be released as a single. After the fan edition of The Truth About Love was announced, some fans assumed that it would be replacing the standard edition in the UK, and therefore, the next single from the album would most likely be one of the new tracks, which were all bonus tracks released on various editions of the album before; although this was false, the majority of P!nk's fans expressed interest in "Timebomb" being released as a single. [2]
Although it was never released as a single, "Timebomb" was used in a promotional video for The Truth About Love Tour. [3]
Fan controversy[]
During P!nk's July 7 concert in Melbourne during The Truth About Love Tour, a 16-year old teenage boy was arrested after Tweeting "@Pink I'm ready with my Bomb. Time to blowup #RodLaverArena Bitch". Staff from the venue recognized the boy from his Twitter profile picture and had him ejected and arrested by local police. The following day, the boy faced the media personally, explaining that the "bomb" in question was a reference to P!nk's song "Timebomb". He stated, "It was meant to be about drop the effects, the music, everything. Just drop it all." The boy's sister added in an interview with the Herald Sun, "We had to go there at midnight to sort it out, and we thought we had to bail him; we thought he’d been killed; we didn’t know what to think. He wrote it as in one of her songs is called 'Timebomb,' and he forgot to put the 'Time' on there." [4]
